EA my host gazes into the lens.

Me: Sorry, I didn’t expect the traffic. [ 25 MINUTES LATE AND EMBARRASSED]

EA: Aaaaah. Don’t worry really, I thought you would like this Thai place. [SHE HAD A CALMING BUT INTENSE SMILE. GORGEOUS HER CHEEKBONES]

Me: Yeah, it looks great and I love an open kitchen where you can see the action. Thanks for recommending. [ WRESTLING MY COAT OF ME]

EA: Well, I just moved from Lublin and this is very close to my apartment.

Me: Yes, I remember you mentioned.

EA: But let’s definitely order now because I’m hungry.

Me: Same!

Waiter: So any decisions yet? [WAITER APPROACHES]

[ I ORDERED THE EXTRA SPICY CHICKEN CURRY WITH RICE. AND SHE ASKED FOR THE SALMON CURRY WITH RICE. THE WAITER ASKED IF I WAS SURE I WANTED EXTRA SPICY; I EXPLAINED THAT I WAS GHANAIAN AND I CAN HANDLE IT. EWA SMILED ]

EA: Wow. I would melt if I ordered something like that. [GENUINELY SHOCKED]

Me: I couldn’t help it. But I’m sure it will be good.

EA: Ummm, is it okay if I trauma dump? I can imagine you have to listen to so many peoples darkest moments at every dinner and that’s beautiful. But don’t want to overwhelm you.

Me: It actually means a lot that you asked but I’m open to listening….really. [ MY HEART IS LIFTED ]

EA: I saw a woman jump to her death at my apartment building..this year. She landed on the concrete in front of my window.

Me: [STUNNED] Come again?
